কৈফিয়ৎ

গত বছর … অগস্টের মাঝামাঝি, উঠিল বাজনা বাজি … হই হই করে ব্লগষ্ঠ প্রজেক্ট-বাঙালনামা। দেখতে দেখতে বছর ঘুরতে চলল। সিনিকের মুখে ছাই দিয়ে ব্লগারিদ্্মিক প্রসারণে অগ্রসর অত্যুৎসাহী (মন্দ লোকে বলে হুজুগে) বাঙালকুল; এ’জন্য অবশ্য-ধন্যবাদার্হ আমাদের পাঠক, লেখক, শুভানুধ্যায়ীরা। ওদিকে কবি বলেছেন, দাঁড়াও পথিকবর, তিষ্ঠ ক্ষণকাল, ফ্রম টাইম টু টাইম। পথ চলবার দস্তুরটি ‘চরৈবেতি’ হলেও মাঝেমধ্যে ঘাড় ঘুরিয়ে পশ্চাতে দৃষ্টিপাত করার অভ্যেস কেই বা কবে ছাড়তে পেরেছে! যেমন ছাড়তে পারেনি আগামী নিয়ে আকাশকুসুম জল্পনা। অতএব, ঘুরেফিরে আমাদেরও সেই যাহা-পাই-আর-যাহা-চাই-এর হিসেব নিকেশ।

বাঙালনামা – কী ও কেন ?

কোন এক কালে জনৈক মনীষী বলেছিলেন, “বাঙালী আত্মবিস্মৃত জাতি।” প্রসঙ্গত উল্লেখ্য, ভদ্রলোক প্রতিভাবান ও সত্যদ্রষ্টা ছিলেন বটে, কিন্তু সেই সঙ্গে ঘটিও ছিলেন। স্বভাবতই, এই ঘটিসুলভ সিনিক উক্তিটির যাথার্থ্য পুরো বাংলাদেশ জুড়ে প্রতিফলিত হয়নি। অন্ততঃ পদ্মার পূর্বদিকে যে হয়নি, সে কথা হলফ করে বলা যায়।

Where it all started…..

There are beginnings and there are ends. And there are beginnings which are not supposed to have ends. This one exemplifies the latter. To start with, as the King advised Alice, ‘begin at the beginning’, so shall we.

It started on a virtual forum, a social forum to be precise. The debate that sparked off there triggered further debates and discussions including the making of an album consisting of photographs of the children of eastern part of Bengal, of those who have roots and those who had roots, there, in erstwhile East Bengal (opaar Bangla prior Partition) and present Bangladesh, and finally culminated in the making of a unique

project we lovingly named ‘Projet Bangalnama’ or simply Bangalnama ( inspired from the title of Tapan Roychoudhury’s memoir). But this, we assure you is just the beginning.

P.S. There are issues that need to be sorted e.g. language of the blog, people behind it, the way the project is to be shaped, future of it and so on and so forth.
